Keto Friendly Oils

Everyone is talking about the ketogenic (Keto) diet. People are dropping pounds and inches on the keto craze without counting calories or tracking your food intake. This has led to many questions about whether or not Simply Sunflower Oil is acceptable on a strict Keto diet. My husband lost 20Ibs in the first month of being on the keto diet and cooking with Simply Sunflower Oil. Interested? Let's break it down!

What is the Keto Diet?

The ketogenic or Keto diet is essentially a low-carb, high fat diet that helps people drop pounds. It involves drastically reducing carbohydrate and sweet intake and replacing it with fats. This reduction puts your body into a metabolic state called ketosis. This causes your body to become incredibly efficient at burning fat.

What can I eat on the Keto Diet?

The Keto diet requires you to limit or reduce intake of sugary foods, fruit, beans, root vegetables, condiments/sauces, unhealthy fats, alcohol, and some sugar-free diet foods. You instead must base your diet around meat, fatty fish, eggs, cheese, nuts and seeds, healthy oils, avocados, and low-carb veggies.

Keto-Friendly Oils

Use Simply Sunflower Oil on the Keto Diet! When my husband began the keto diet, a friend advised him to use coconut oil, olive oil, or ghee... but that friend was not well versed in the specific oil requirements. We had some explaining to do. Here is what to look for in a Keto-friendly cooking oil:

  1. All-Natural The Keto diet advises using on natural oils. You should avoid oils that are created by chemical extraction & high heat industrial processes. Although this isn't true for all kinds of sunflower oil, Simply Sunflower Oil is proud to be all-natural...nothing added, nothing subtracted. Simply Sunflower Oil does not use any chemicals for extraction or filtration which makes it perfect for the Keto Diet guidelines.

  1. Cold-Pressed Keto requires one to stay away from oils processed with high heat. We also use a cold-press specifically not to damage the fragile omega-6 fats. Simply Sunflower Oil is not processed with high heat...another reason we fit within the keto diet.

  2. No Carbs Reducing carbohydrate intake is the number one rule of Keto. Simply Sunflower Oil has ZERO carbohydrates.

  3. Healthy Fats In simple terms, you need an oil that contains more good fats than bad fats. For example, a sunflower seed contains more good fats, whereas ice cream contains more bad fats. Simply Sunflower Oil contains more good fats (monounsaturated & polyunsaturated) and fewer bad saturated fats which is crucial for the Keto diet.

  4. Low/Minimal Processing The Keto Diet mentions that simple, not complicated, pressing is important. Simply Sunflower Oil is extra-virgin - meaning our seeds are only pressed once. Although more processing could increase yields, we would rather produce a high quality product!

Simply Sunflower Oil meets and exceeds the requirements for Keto and is actually more fit than coconut oil, pure olive oil, and ghee because it contains greater beneficial fat content. Simply Sunflower Oil is all-natural, has no carbs, no chemicals used, no artificial sweeteners, is extra virgin, contains significant good fats - plus we are non-GMO, gluten-free, and farm fresh. You can't beat that! PURCHASE SIMPLY SUNFLOWER OIL HERE!
